We would like to share the following letter received by 'The
Friends' from the RSPCA
Leybourne Animal
Centre regarding the much publicised story of
Reuben.

Thank you very much for your kind response towards Reuben and
your generous cheque which will go towards the emergency cost of
his care and the many others like him that come through the
doors of RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre each week.
We now have the full story about what happened to Reuben. He was
reported stolen from his home in early September this year by
his owner. He was found on November 13th
quite some distance from his home by a member of the public who
noticed him at the side of a road. He was brought in, in a
collapsed state to Leybourne Animal Centre and was rushed
immediately to the vets for emergency care. He was just about
able to stand and be weighed on Tuesday 15th
November when he weighed just 8kg.
Following the RSPCA press release which resulted in wide
spread television and newspaper coverage, Reuben’s owner
came forward which makes a wonderful ending to his very sad
story. Reuben has gone home and will continue to visit his
own vet for regular checkups and treatment. When Reuben left
the centre on November 24th he weighed 11kgs.
