ABOUT THE RSPCA CENTRE

The RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre was opened in 1996 and each year helps around 3000 unwanted, abandoned and neglected animals. There are 42 kennels licensed for 57 dogs and 40 cat pens licensed for 72 cats. There is also a small animal house which caters for just about everything else! It has 10 rabbit runs, two small rooms to house rodents and wildlife plus 2 stables and some wooden arks so that fowl and sometimes farm stock can have shelter. The site extends to some 23 acres and on going maintenance work is required to keep the Animal Centre looking spic and span for the 80,000 visitors who come each year.

The RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre covers a huge area including Kent, Sussex, Essex and parts of Greater London too; its doors are ever open to help needy animals. Although the Centre is funded by the RSPCA Headquarters the amount received is never enough to cover the additional requirements of a thriving and expanding Centre in these days of spiralling costs.
